Özet
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that affect mortality in adults due to high voltage electric injury. Material and methods: Patients with electrical injuries admitted to the emergency department and intensive care unit between January 2009- December 2011 were retrospectively analyzed. The cases were evaluated mortality in relation to by age, gender, seasonal distribution, event location, degree of burns, laboratory findings, ECG changes, falls from height, shock, intensive care unit admission, development of sepsis. Results: One hundred fifty two cases were exposed to high-voltage electricity. Age group, sex, summer season, be processing industry, second and third degree burned, be unconsciousness, accompanied falls from height, evidence of shock, presence of ECG changes, admission intensive care unit, have positive blood cultures, development of sepsis were significantly in relation to mortality. Patients have 2nd degree burns, the presence of shock and sepsis were independent predictive factors in terms of mortality. Conclusion: In cases with high-voltage electrical injuries, male, elderly, be unconsciousness, development shock, 2nd and 3rd degree burns, development sepsis, fall from height, admission intensive care unit were more mortally.
