Özet

Heart failure is still a vital concern as a medical treatment-resistant problem in pediatric population despite improvements in treatment modalities. Mechanical circulatory assist devices are utilized as a bridge treatment in order to increase the rate of survival of the patients until the suitable donor is available. Echocardiography is the most commonly used method before, during and following the placement of the Ventricular Assist Device. Transesophageal echocardiography is important both for the monitoring of hemodynamics and the evaluation of the implantation procedure and post-implantation function of VADs. In this presentation, postoperative correction of an outfow cannula malposition detected at the end of the operation with transesophageal echocardiography in a pediatric case who underwent a mechanical circulatory assist device implantation is discussed.
