Özet
It is believed that one of the most frequent reasons for a blocked nose is hypertrophy of the inferior turbinate (ITH). In cases that do not respond to pharmacotherapy, several operative interventions may be undertaken to address the issue, such as turbinectomy, turbinoplasty, electrocautery (either extra- or sub-mucosal), radio-frequency ablation (RFA), resection or ablation by means of a laser, and cryosurgery. The aim in undertaking surgery for ITH is simple, namely, to debulk the turbinate to the maximum possible extent so as to release the blockage without impairing the functions of the nose and without introducing further complications [1].
