Altered Gene Expression Levels of RCAS1, FBN and CPA4 in Gastric Cancer

Purpose: We aim to analyze expression levels of RCAS1, FBN, CD26, CPA4 and P16 in gastric cancer tissues. Methods: Total RNA isolated from gastric cancer and healthy surrounding tissues of same patients. cDNA was obtained from total RNA and SYBR green used for quantitative PCR. The expression of genes was quantified by measuring the cycle threshold (Ct) values and normalized using the 2−∆∆CT method relative to GAPDH. Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney U and Spearman’s rho test was used for data analysis and p-values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: Total of 51 patients were included in the study. We observed significantly increased expression levels of RCAS1, FBN and CPA4 in gastric cancer tissues compared to surrounding healthy tissues of same patients (p < 0.05). Conclusions: RCAS1, FBN and CPA4 genes may serve as potential biomarker candidates for target genes to the gastric cancer screening test panels.
