Özet
Objective: In this paper, we aimed to evaluate the clinical features of herpes zoster. Material and Methods: Patients diagnosed with herpes zoster during April–September 2015 in pediatric and pediatric infectious diseases outpatient clinics were recruited. Patients were assessed based on clinical conditions (pain, pruritus, and dermatomal region), demographics, medications, and presence of complications. Results: During the 6-month period, 12 patients with a median age of 7.9 (1.6–13) years were included. The numbers of male and female percentages were equal. History of varicella infection was present in one patient. One patient was admitted as a case of recurrence, and 2 patients developed complications. The most commonly observed dermatomal region was the trigeminal region (6 patients), and 4 patients showed thoracal dermatomal region. Sacral and lumber dermatomal regions were observed in one patient each. Acyclovir, symptomatic treatment, and antibiotheraphy were used during complications. All patients were cured during the 1-month follow-up period. Conclusion: Using symptomatic treatment when necessary and early diagnosis and management of complications are important for the clinical progress and the clinics of the patients.
