Özet

We evaluated the findings of 50 patients who had been followed in the clinics of GATA Hospital in recent 5 years in order to investigate the characteristics of cases with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in our country. Disturbances in the patients was rather heterogeneous according to their living region and their profession. Mean age was 53 and 18% of the cases were below 30 years of age. The rate of male to female was found 4.0. HBsAg was determined in 63% of the patients. ALT and AST levels were high in 84% of them and mean elevation on ALT values was one and half fold or than on AST values. Serum albumin levels was low in 83% of the cases. Alkaline phosphatase and sedimentation were elevated in 76% and 67% of them, respectively. Alpha fetoprotein levels were increased in 69% of the patients. Cirrhosis was additionally existent in 40% of them. HBsAg was positive in 80% of the cases with cirrhosis and anti-HCV was positive in 10% of them. As a result, it seems that HBV infection is the most important factor in HCC etiopathogenesis in our country.
