Özet
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of quetiapine on social cognitive functions of schizophrenia patients. Method: We planned to include 30 patients and their caregivers in the study. We included 9 patients and their caregivers in 11 months and report the preliminary findings here. We gave 300mg/day quetiapine as an initial dose, and increased the dose up to 900-1200mg/day depending on age and weight of the patient. We assessed the social cognitive functions of the patients with GEOPTE Scale of Social Cognition for Schizophrenia. Results: The mean of GEOPTE Scale of Social Cognition for Schizophrenia of patients is 52,4 before treatment, 34 in the first month of treatment, 24,6 in the third month of treatment, 22,5 in the sixth month of treatment. Conclusions: Quetiapine resulted in significant changes in the first 3 months of treatment, while this change decreased between 3-6 months of treatment. Quetiapine improved social cognition.
