Özet
Metals have been used in many industrial processes and some metals have also an essential role in human metabolism as they are part of biomolecules such as enzymes, which catalyze biochemical reactions in the body. On the other hand, heavy metals are accumulated in the food chain and contamination of crops such as cereals and vegetables is a very serious problem. Consumption of cereals contaminated with toxic heavy metals may cause harmful effects in humans. This paper aims to provide knowledge about the general information about toxic heavy metals, their toxicity mechanism and their effects on environment.
