Effects of perindopril on blood pressure, left ventricular hypertrophy and serum ACE level in patients with essential hypertension ESANSIYEL HIPERTANSIYONLU HASTALARDA PERINDOPRILIN KAN BASINCI, SOL VENTRIKUL BUYUKLUGU VE SERUM ADE DUZEYINE ETKILERI

Özet
All antihypertensive drugs lower blood pressure (by definition), but their effects on hypertensive complications such as left ventricular hypertrophy, increased arterial wall thickness may differ considerably. In addition to hypotensive effects, ACE inhibitors, which consist of an important group of antihypertensive drugs in todays, it has been suggested that they decreased cardiovascular hypertrophy and have relatively few side effects. In our study a new ACE inhibitor, perindopril, in doses of 4-8 mg per day, was used in mild to moderate hypertensives as a monotherapy for 3 months. In conclusion, we showed that blood pressure, left ventricular wall thickness and serum ACE level decreased significantly after three months therapy.
