Özet

An international common terminology is used to clearly explain the human body and its movements. The main reason for using this common terminology is to explain the parts of the human body, their positions, and their movements with respect to each other. Anatomical position is a standard position and as it is the same for everyone, the plane and axis on which the movement occurs can be defined. Joint movements are explained using plane and axis terms. Anthropometric measurements, on the other hand, are employed to classify the physical characteristics of the human body. Anthropometric measurements have been used for many various purposes, such as following growth and development, evaluating performance, as well as monitoring diseases and recovery. Length, diameter, circumference, and fat measurements can be made easily with simple equipment used in a clinic, while more precise measurements can be made thanks to technological devices.
