Özet
Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a chronic neuromuscular disorder due to progressive degeneration of anterior horn cells of the spinal cord. The clinical features ranged from weakness of proximal muscles of the lower limb to dysphagia and respiratory dysfunction. The demands of the anesthetic management of the patients with SMA are challenging due to respiratory dysfunction, difficult airway management, and limitations of the use of neuromuscular blocking agents. In this case report, we aimed to discuss the anesthetic management for caesarean section in a parturient with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type III. We used combined spinal epidural anesthesia.
