Özet
The placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is a general term that describes the abnormal attachment of the placenta to the myometrium or beyond. The main clinical problem is that the placenta does not separate spontaneously from the decidual layer at birth due to invasion of the myometrium, and as a result, it causes obstetric hemorrhage, which can be life-threatening and usually requires hysterectomy. PAS is the most common cause of peripartum hysterectomy. The most important risk factor is the presence of a previous cesarean section together with the placenta previa. The most important step in managing PAS is to diagnose it in the prenatal period. In this section, PAS definition, classification, pathogenesis, risk factors, imaging methods, and PAS management will be explained.
