Özet
Endodermal sinus tumor is the second most common form of malignant germ cell tumors after dysgerminoma which is believed to arise from germ cells that differentiate into the extraembryonal yolk sac and they are highly malignant. During last 3 decades survival rates of these patients have dramatically improved with the advanced chemotherapy regimes and almost 95% 5 year survival rate has been reported with early stage tumors. Higher survival rates could be obtained with appropriate dose adjuvant combination chemotherapy including "Bleomycin + Etoposide + Cisplatin" after aggressive surgery in advanced staged patients. Currently postoperative chemotherapy with a "Bleomycin + Etoposide + Cisplatin" regimen should be the standard care for all patients with a diagnosis of endodermal sinus tumor and a-fetoprotein should be used for monitoring results of the therapy. We present a 23-year-old woman with advanced stage endodermal sinus tumor who achieved 8 years sustained complete remission with combined adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery.
