Özet
Gaining an understanding of the brain’s complex structure and functions is essential to decode how it controls emotions, sensory experiences, and both voluntary and involuntary body movements. This chapter explores the intricate workings of the brain itself and the myriad neurological conditions that can affect the brain, thus human health and quality of life. These conditions are explored under three separate categories: Neurodegenerative disorders, brain tumors and neuropsychiatric conditions. Neurodegenerative disorders are characterized by the deterioration of nerve cells and synaptic connections, leading to severe symptoms and significant challenges in patient care. Brain tumors, both primary and metastatic, pose diagnostic and treatment difficulties, often requiring radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgery. Neuropsychiatric conditions highlight the intricate interplay between neurological and psychological processes. The underlying information provided for these set of diseases in this chapter provide unique clues for diverse applications from drug design to engineering.
