Özet
In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of preoperatively administered alpha tocopherol (Vitamine E), diazepam, chlorpromazine, and vecuronium on succinylcholine (Sch) induced fasciculations and postoperative myalgia (POM). 100 ASA physical status 1 and 2 adult patients undergoing elective surgical procedure were randomly allocated in five groups of 20 patients. Four groups were pretreated with, vecuronium IV 0.01 mg/kg (group V), diazepam IV 0.05 mg/kg (group D), chlorpromazin IV 0.1 mg/kg (group K), vitamin E oral 600 mg (group E). As a control group, group P received no pretreatment. Following induction with 5 mg/kg thiopentone IV 1.5 mg/kg Sch IV was administered to each patient. Grading of fasciculations, intubating conditions and presence and grading POM were evaluated at 24, 48 and 72 hours postoperatively. Severity of fasciculations in all groups given pretreatment decreased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05). But no significant difference was observed between the groups pretreated with diazepam chlorpromazine, vitamin E and vecuronium. Intubating conditions and muscle relaxation were satisfactory in all groups. POM at 24 hours postoperatively decreased in the groups D, K and E (p<0.05). There was no difference between group V and group P at 24 hours postoperatively (p>0.05). At 24 hours postoperatively there were no significant differences in POM values between pretreated groups. POM at 48 hours postoperatively was decreased only in group E compared to control group (p<0.05). POM at 72 hours postoperatively was not observed in any patient. We conclude that, pretreatment with diazepam, chlorpromazine and vitamin E is effective in attenuating the Sch induced fasciculations and POM. But pretreatment with vecuronium is preventing fasciculations only.
