Özet
Chronic lower respiratory tract diseases are those that cause lung obstructions. The most common are chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Although these differ in terms of the underlying mechanisms, they are similar in that both feature exacerbations and dyspnea, recurrent episodes of which reduce quality of life, compromise general health, limit exercise capacity, and increase healthcare costs. COPD is a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide [1, 2]. Both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments are available. All seek to decrease the disease burden by reducing the number of exacerbations and controlling the symptoms. Non-pharmacological treatment complements pharmacology and should always be part of the comprehensive management of chronic respiratory disease.
