Özet

The aim of this study is the comparison of octreotide and vit E effects on the intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury. Albino rats (weighing 180 to 220 gr) were randomized to three groups. The first group of 22 rats were given 10 μgr/rat octreotide subcutaneously and the second group of 19 rads were injected 300 IU/kg vit E and the third group of 17 rats were given 2 cc % 0.9 NaCl as control group. Animals were anesthetized with intramuscular ketamine sulfate (50 mgr/kg). They shaved ventrally and all have median laparotomy. We performed ischemia on the 5 cm jejunal segment which 7 cm from Treitz, according to reversible ischemia model. On the 1st day 26 animals and on the 5th day 32 animals were sacrified and removed intestinal segments which formed ischemia-reperfusion injury. Pathologic examinations and malondialdehyde contents were determined each specimen. Malondialdehyde contents in octreotide group were significantly higher than vit E and control group on the 1st day, but no difference were noted between vit E and control group on the 1st day. Malondialdehyde contents in octreotide and vit E groups were significantly lower than control group, but not showed any difference between octreotide and vit E groups on the 5th day. On the pathologic examinations, only on the 5th day, neutrophil infiltration in the octreotide group significantly lower than vit E group. In this study, octreotide increased intestinal ischemia on the acute period and have no advantage to vit E except the effect of neutrophil infiltration decrease on the 5th day. These results suggest that, vit E on the acute intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury has superiority. Combined vit E and octreotide had better results that octreotide alone on the late period.
