Özet
Considering aging is the underlying pathology for numerous diseases, aiming to inhibit aging-related pathways could increase healthspan. There are currently two major treatment approaches in aging-related diseases: selective elimination of aging cells (senolytics) and inhibition of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). Initial results of the first-generation senolytics are promising, but data supporting their safety as clinical therapies for antiaging is still lacking. After the involvement of senolytics or SASP-modulator drugs in clinical therapies, it is going to be possible to address aging-related changes, which will not only treat some diseases associated with aging but also improve the healthspan of the aged population.
