Prevalence and predictors of atrial fibrillation in rheumatic valvular heart disease

Özet
In this study, the prevalence of atrial fibrillation in various groups of valvular lesions that develop as a result of rheumatic heart disease has been investigated. Whereas the prevalence of AF has been found to be 29% in isolated mitral stenosis, 16% in isolated mitral regurgitation, 52% in combined lesions of the mitral valve, and 1% in aortic valvular disease, multivariate analysis has determined age and left atrial diameter to be the most important parameters that determine the occurrence of atrial fibrillation.
