Özet
In recent years, lung transplantation has become a therapeutic option for children with severe and end-stage lung disease, where other therapeutic options have failed. Moreover, it has resulted in good quality of life and prolonged survival, similar to that of transplants performed in adults [1]. Compared with transplantation in adult, pediatric transplantation has many unique features, such as different indications for among age groups, specific characteristics of children at a distinct stage of development, the effects of immunosuppressant treatments, a particular susceptibility to infections related to an immature immune system, and specific problems in the availability of suitable donors [2].
