Özet
Objective: We evaluated the results of loop electroexcision procedure (LEEP) treatment in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) I and II. Study Design: The study was designed prospectively on 42 consecutive cases with CIN who underwent LEEP under local anesthesia. Cases with negative endocervical curettage and biopsy-proven CIN were included in the study. Results: Pain, discomfort and blood loss were minimal during LEEP. The quality of the histological specimens was satisfactory for histopathologic examination in 85.7% of cases. Heating was complete in 92.8% of cases in 3 months. LEEP was repeated in 3 cases (7.1%) because of persistent CIN. Conclusion: LEEP may be one of the first line modalities in the treatment of CIN I and II because it causes less blood loss, pain and discomfort, and provides a satisfactory specimen for histopathologic examination.
