Özet

Primary pulmonary melanoma is a rare type of malignant melanoma. Pulmonary metastases of melanoma may be multiple or solitary. In this case, it may be confused with lung cancer, benign tumors and hydatid cyst radiologically. A 49-year-old male who was prediagnosed as complicated hydatid cyst radiologically admitted to our clinic. Lobectomy was performed and the frozen section obtained during surgery was reported as malignant. The histopathology of the lesion was reported as melanoma, the patient denied previous history of removal of dermal nevus, and another focus could not be determined in the systemic investigations of the patient. Although pulmonary melanoma is emphasized to be seen rarely in literature and a standard treatment protocol has not been reported, approach for metastases is only removal of the tumor, but lobectomy and greater resections may be performed for primary pulmonary melanomas. © 2012 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
