Özet
Nosocomial infections (NI) occurred in intensive care units (ICU) have become a serious health problem in the worldwide. In this study for one-year period, the rate of NI, isolated pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibilities were determined in ICU at Gulhane Military Medical Academy. Totally 1958 patients aged between 0-98 were evaluated in different ICU of our hospital. NIs were determined in 189 of 1958 patients and the rate was 9.6%. The most common NI was in ICU of Plastic Surgery and Burn as 53% and the fewest NI rate was in ICU of Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiology as 3.7%. Totally 235 microorganisms were isolated. 55.8% of them were determined as gram-negative rods while 42.1% of gram-positive cocci and 2.1% of fungi. The most frequent isolates were Staphylococcus aureus (32%), Pseudomonas spp. (15.0%), and Escherichia coli (15.0%). Although the methicilline resistant S. aureus was found as 89.3%, there was no vancomycin and teicoplanin resistance. Gram-negative rods' highest susceptibility rates were to imipenem, amikacin, and cefepime contrary to gentamicin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole and ampicillin. Systematic researches on the increasing resistant microorganisms and on NI will enable us to decrease the frequency. Therefore, the quality of general health system will be increased.
