Can be meperidine be an alternative for bupivacaine in hemorroidectomy? Hemoroidektomide meperidin bupivakaine alternatif olabilir mi?

Özet
The effects of intrathecal meperidine and bupivacaine on postoperative analgesia period following hemorroidectomy were compared. After the approval of local ethics committee 20 subjects, ASA I-II, undergoing hemorroidectomy were randomly allocated in two groups. Informed written consents were taken from the subjects. In the sitting position, at the level of L2-23 or L3-4, meperidine 0.7 mg/kg to the first group and bupivacaine 15 mg to the second group were given intrathecally. SBP, DBP, MAP, heart rate and SpO2 values of the subjects were monitored. Complications, postoperative additional analgesic requirement time and doses administered for postoperative analgesia were noted. There is no significant difference between groups according to the demographic data, the onset of sensorial block and anesthesia quality. No motor block was seen in the second group. In the first group, hyptension and bradycardia in one subject, hypotension in one and bradycardia in another subject were seen. In the second group, hypotension and bradycardia in one subject, hypotension and bradycardia in one, nausea and vomiting in another subject and puriritis in two subjects were seen. As a result, we observed that meperidine could be used safely in hemorroidectomy surgery and there was no difference between two groups according to the analgesic properties in the postoperative period.
