A Pediatric Patient Presenting with Celiac Crisis Çölyak Krizi ile Prezente Olan Bir Çocuk Olgu

Özet
Celiac disease can present with a wide clinical spectrum ranging from silent disease to acute celiac crisis. Celiac crisis is a rare but highly fatal complication that usually occurs in early childhood in cases of previously unrecognized celiac disease. In this article, we present the case of a 12-month-old child who was admitted with poor general condition, dehydration, metabolic acidosis, hypoalbuminemia, and hyponatremia, and was diagnosed with celiac crisis. The patient’s acute clinical condition improved with a gluten-free diet, steroid therapy, hydration, and electrolyte replacement. During follow-up, the patient demonstrated healthy growth and development. In patients presenting with diarrhea, poor general condition, hypoalbuminemia, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, and hyponatremia, celiac crisis one of the rare but potentially fatal forms of celiac disease should be considered, and treatment should be initiated without delay.
