Use of fibrin glue in dog kidney model

Özet
The purpose of this study is to determine the efficacy of fibrin glue on haemostasis and wound healing in dog kidney, after partial nephrectomy. Fibrin glue was applied to cut surface in the study group. Moderate digital pressure was applied to the lower pole until excessive bleeding was controlled. The time required for stopping the bleeding and the histopathological findings on the cut surfaces were investigated. Bleeding time was longer in the control group than the study group, but it could not be supported statistically. Gross appearance exposed adhesive tissue at operation sites that was thicker in fibrin glue group than control. Microscopic studies demonstrated progressive healing of the wounds with inflammation and sear formation which were more prominent in some parts of the kidneys in the study group. Fibrin glue seemed to have some effects on haemostasis and it achieved wound healing, while causing excessive inflammation at some parts of the cut surfaces.
