Coronaphobia Level of Nurses Working in Pandemic Intensive Care and Related Factors Pandemi Yoğun Bakımda Çalışan Hemşirelerin Koronafobi Düzeyi ve Etkileyen Faktörler

Özet
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which started in Wuhan, China in 2019 and spread rapidly all over the world, was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. Coronaphobia is a specific phobia caused by the new coronavirus during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to evaluate the level of coronaphobia caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in nurses working in the pandemic intensive care unit and to compare the results with the nurses working in the non-pandemic intensive care unit. In addition, it was aimed to determine the factors affecting the level of coronaphobia of nurses working in the pandemic intensive care unit. A total of 34 nurses working in the pandemic intensive care unit between June 2021 and October 2021 were included in the study. A total of 20 nurses working in the non-pandemic intensive care unit were included in the study as the control group. Sociodemographic data of the patients were recorded. All participants in both groups completed the COVID-19 Phobia Scale (C19P-S). The C19P-S psychological subscale score in the nurse group working in the pandemic intensive care unit was statistically significantly higher than the control group (p<0.05), while no significant difference was found in the other scale scores (p>0.05). In addition, there was no significant relationship between C19P-S total score and sociodemographic characteristics and COVID-19 transmission status in nurses working in the pandemic intensive care unit (p>0.05). Our study results show that nurses working in the pandemic intensive care unit are more psychologically affected in this extraordinary pandemic situation. Early detection of coronaphobia and timely psychological support are very important.
