Özet
A screening study using cultural methods was performed in intensive care unit of Surgery Clinic at Gulhane Military Medical Academy and the samples were taken from 24 personnel and 25 various environmental samples (i.e. equipment, floor) from this unit. From these cultures, bacteria which may cause nosocomial infections were isolated and identified, and their antibiotic susceptibilities were examined. Of 25 environmental samples, S. aureus, S. epidermidis and gram negative bacil were isolated in 4 (16 %), 5 (20 %) and 2 ( 8 %) of samples, respectively. In 12 (50 %) of 24 personnel working at this unit (mostly from nasal specimens), S. aureus was isolated. It was observed that S. aureus was mostly susceptible to Ciprofloxacin, Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole, Cefuroxime, Sulbactam-Ampicillin and Chloramphenicol by the susceptibility testing.
