Özet
Although serotonin re-uptake inhibitors are the most effective and established treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder, 40 to 60% of the patients do not respond adequately to the medication. The use of new generation antipsychotics in treatment resistant obsessivecompulsive disorder or in cases where augmentation treatment is indicated have been reported to be successful. However there is not much data on use of one of the medications in this group, aripiprazole. This study presents the improvement observed in a case of treatment resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder where aripiprazole was used for augmentation treatment and the discussion on probable mechanisms of action.
