Özet
The science of nutrition is concerned with all aspects of life, health, and disease, with the stages of an organism digesting, absorbing, transporting, using, and removing a nutrient (Cederholm et al., 2017). Although nutrition effects metabolism in many acute and chronic diseases, a nutritional deficiency increases mortality rates by causing morbidity. However, a balanced diet is beneficial in preventing or delaying the onset of many diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and cognitive disorders (Forouzanfar et al., 2015). Systematic evaluation of the patient in line with the nutritional procedure will also increase the patient's benefit from nutritional therapy. While making a nutritional treatment plan, it should be done on an individualized basis in line with the patient's needs with an individualized treatment plan, not according to the disease. It should be considered that the pathophysiological processes may be different in each disease and each patient. Nutrition therapy is included in the field of the family medicine discipline because it requires a biopsychosocial approach.
