Özet
We present a case of acute hepatitis and hemolytic anemia occurring in a 47 years old woman treated for toxic multinodular goiter with 300 mg/day propylthiouracil (PTU). The liver biopsy disclosed submassive necrosis with septal fibrosis and mononuclear cell infiltration in the portal region. Any other drugs that could cause hepatic damage, alcohol, autoimmunity and investigations for various viral agents were negative. Propylthiouracil was withdrawn and methylprednisolone 60 mg/day was began. Clinical and biochemical recovery was observed. Marked histological improvement was seen in the control liver biopsy.
