Özet

Objective: Our study aimed to determine the 10-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks in people living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) before antiretroviral therapy (ART) after at least 1 year of ART use, the ef-fect of effective treatment on risk factors and cardiovascular events occuring under treatment intended to be evulated. Material and Methods: In people living with HIV who presented at our clinic between 1 January 2006-31 December 2018 were included. CVD risk factrors of the patients and newly developed CVDs during their follow-up were recorded. Their records from the first aplication and the last follow-up were reviewed retrospectively. Age, gender, blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, smoking, alcohol consumption, serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lipoprotein and high-density lipoprotein lev-els were recorded. CVD risks were calculated using the Framingham Risk Score (FRS) and the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Risk Score (ACC/AHA-RS). Changes in these scores with at least 1 year of treatment were examined. Results: A total of 276 cases were included in the study. Of the cases, 250 (90.6%) were male and mean age before ART was 38.4±11.3 years. In the pre-ART period, diabet was detected in 4.3% of the patients, hypertension in 10.1%, active smoking in 58.6%, alcohol consumption in 53% and abnormal lipid profile in 82%. FRS and ACC/AHA-RS of the patients were found to be high as 30-33.3% in the pre-ART period, and 35.1-43.6% under ART period (p<0.001).The most significant change among risk factors after treatment was in the lipid profile (p=0.001). The most frequently occurring CVDs were coroner artery disease. Conclusion: Cardiovascular risk has increased in people living with HIV regardless of the ART regimens applied. It is important to regularly monitor lipid profiles in these patients and adjust their diet and exercise programs to improve their quality of life.
