Özet
Sinusitis is a very commen disease, since every child has 6 to 8 upper respiratory truct infection annually and 0.5 to 5 percent of them will have bacterial sinusitis. The causes of children sinusitis are 30% Streptococcus pneumoniae, 20% Haemophilus influenzae, 20% Moraxella catarrhalis. It can be seen few times Streptococcus pyogenes and staphylococcus. The first antimicrobial drug which should be used in the treatment of acute sinusitis is amoxicillin. By the infections of the beta-lactamas producting bacterien could choosen amoxicillin-clavulonate, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, ampicillin-sulbactam, 2. and 3. generation of cephalosporins and macrolides. In symptomatic treatment, decongestants, saline nasal washes or nasal sprays can be used. After the medical treatment trials surgical drainage can be thought as the last solution. The local (mucoceles), orbital (orbital cellulitis) and intracranial (meningitis, subdural and epidural abcess) complications of sinusitis can be seen rarely.
