Özet

Cerm cell tumors (GCT) originate from multipotential primordial germ cells. They are found especially in midline tissues and organs the vast majority being located in the gonads. In this study the tissue detection of tumor markers alpha fetoprotein (AFP) and human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) by immunohistochemistry was done and their roles in classification differential diagnosis and histogenesis of GCTs were investigated. One-to-four specimens belonging to 53 tumors were stained with AFP and HCG. AFP gave positive staining in 92.3% of endodermal sinus tumors, 90% of embryonal carcinomas, 16.6% of dysgerminomas and immature teratomas and 15.3% of mature teratomas. AFP did not positively stain seminomas of classical and spermatocytic type and choriocarcinomas. HCG stained 100% of choriocarcinomas, 80% of embryonal carcinomas and 7.1% of endodermal sinus tumors and classical seminomas positively. Spermatocytic seminomas, dysgerminomas and mature and immature teratomas were not positively stained with HCG.
