Özet
Elderly population is increasing continuously world-wide, not only in developed countries but also in developing countries. Malnutrition and malabsorption is also increasing with an increase in the elderly population. This may be due to age-related physiological changes in the body or due to the increase in the incidence of some diseases with age such as malignancies. The first mistake in determining malnutrition and malabsorption in such an advanced age group is, not knowing the ideal weight and body mass index (BMI) in this population. So evaluating the nutritional status of this age group needs special assessments. Here in this article, we will try to discuss the malabsorption syndrome of the elderly.
