Özet
In this study, levocabastine, a novel H1 antagonist, and sodium cromoglycate were compared for the treatment of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. 30 patients attending the Department of Allergic Diseases of Gulhane Military Medical Academy, aged 17 to 49 years, who were diagnosed as seasonal allergic conjunctivitis were included in the study. They were put into two groups. After the first group of patients were given levocabastine+placebo and the second sodium cromoglycate, symptom score cards were given out. The patients were told to evaluate and write down their symptoms daily. At the and of the three-week treatment it was shown that levocabastine was more effective in first week. In other weeks, however, no significant difference was observed. In conclusion, because levocabastine has the features of easy applicability and rapid onset of action, we suggest that it is a more reasonable alternative.
