Özet
Pesticides, a mixture of various chemicals or substances, designed to destroy unwanted pests such as insects, rodents, weeds and fungi. Pesticides provide many benefits by controlling these organisms that are considered harmful, resulting in improved product yield and quality, control of diseases and preservation of goods intact, resulting in financial savings. However, studies showing that pesticides cause various adverse health effects have also attracted great attention in recent years. A wide variety of pesticides are available, including chlorinated hydrocarbons, organic phosphorous, carbamates, pyrethroids, and pyrethrin. These substances are widely used throughout the world. In addition to taking high doses of pesticides for suicidal purposes, their use outside the allowed limits and/or their misapplication may negatively affect both human health and environmental health. Adverse effects due to chronic exposure to the pesticides include hypersensitivity reactions, changes in immune system response such as some autoimmune diseases and cancers. In this chapter, it is aimed to present up-to-date information on commonly used pesticides and their possible immunotoxic effects.
