The evolution of complex intravascular interventions has brought numerous complications, including the inadvertent displacement or embolization of procedural materials. Prevention and effective management of this potential hazard are essential skills for every interventionalist. Intravascular foreign body (IVFB) retrieval represents a critical and continually advancing area of endovascular therapy, relevant in both emergent and elective contexts. This chapter offers a comprehensive overview of the etiologies, classifications, and clinical implications of IVFBs. Risk factors and preventive strategies are addressed as foundational elements, followed by guidance on determining whether and when retrieval is indicated. A detailed exploration of retrieval techniques-including snares, forceps, baskets, and balloon-assisted methods-is provided, with attention to object characteristics and vascular anatomy. A stepwise approach to retrieval is outlined, emphasizing operator readiness, team coordination, and complication avoidance.
