Özet
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive disorder characterized by chronic inflammation and airway obstruction. Recent studies have suggested that alterations in the microbiota may play a significant role in COPD pathogenesis. In individuals with COPD, an increase in pathogenic bacteria and a decrease in microbial diversity within the lung microbiota exacerbate inflammation and contribute to disease progression. Furthermore, changes in the gut microbiota through the gut-lung axis have also been proposed to influence COPD development. Studies support the effects of commonly used agents in the treatment of COPD, such as inhaled corticosteroids and antibiotics, on the microbiota. Microbiota-modulating approaches, including probiotics and prebiotics, may offer a novel perspective in disease management. However, further research is needed to better understand the clinical efficacy of microbiota-targeted therapies.
