Özet
Rapid technological advancements in today's world have enabled the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic options, paving the way for novel models in the field of healthcare. One such area is the treatment options available in neonatal intensive care units. Developments in regenerative biology and medicine are increasingly focusing on stem cell therapies, particularly in relation to neonatal diseases. Regenerative medicine has made significant progress over the past quarter-century and has become a promising field for the treatment of previously untreatable tissue and organ injuries and diseases. Since the neonatal period is critical in terms of health issues, there is a need for new treatment options in this field. Stem cells stand out as an important resource for therapy due to their ability to self-renew and differentiate into various cell types. Stem cells derived particularly from umbilical cord blood hold great potential for the treatment of neonatal diseases. These cells, with their high self-renewal capacity and immunological properties, may contribute significantly to treatment processes. The anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of stem cells have the potential to revolutionize the management of common neonatal health problems. Cells obtained from umbilical cord blood are studied in various types such as hematopoietic (blood-forming), mesenchymal (tissue-repairing), and multipotent (able to differentiate into multiple cell types). The use of these cells offers promising treatment options for neonatal diseases by providing benefits such as preventing organ rejection and accelerating tissue repair. This study aims to explore the therapeutic potential of stem cells in several key aspects of the neonatal central nervous system. Overall, our study highlights that stem cell therapies, particularly for the treatment of neurological diseases, represent a promising option; however, further research is needed regarding the efficacy, timing, and optimization of these treatment approaches.
