Özet
Amniotic fluid is essential for normal fetal development. It protects the fetus from mechanical traumas and provides a sterile environment. It is also very important for normal extremity and lung development. If the amniotic fluid volume is less than expected according to gestational age, it is called oligohydramnios, and its excess is called polyhydramnios. The degree and etiology of oligo-polyhydramnios have great importance in the prognosis. In this chapter, how the amniotic fluid volume is measured, which values are pathological, what should be sought in etiology and how to inform the patient are explained.
