Özet

Individuals today frequently emit pollutants into the environment, making it difficult for humans to live healthily. Many analytical methods have been developed for the detection of environmental pollutants. Electrochemical sensors are sensing devices that monitor the behavior of matter at the nanoscale to the macromolecular level within a particular environment. Metallic nanomaterials enable target molecules to attach more strongly to their active sites, resulting in observable signals. In the past few years, metal nanoparticles (NPs), such as gold NPs, silver NPs, bismuth NPs, silica NPs, and quantum dots, have been used in electrode systems as electrochemical sensors to detect environmental pollutants. Besides, metallic nanomaterials-based nanocomposites have sparked much attention in electrochemical sensors due to their intriguing physical and chemical features. These metallic-based composite materials improve the performance of electrochemical detection. With the development of technology, new types of electrodes like metallic nanowire-based electrodes, metal-based materials electrodes like indium tin oxide, and bismuth electrodes have been used. In this chapter, metallic-based electrochemical sensors will be described in terms of metal nanoparticles, nanocomposites, and metallic electrodes for environmental monitoring. These sensors will be examined for their detection methods with analytical parameters, analytes, and specific metallic nanomaterials and electrodes.
