Özet
Renal collecting duct carcinoma is rare among all kidney tumors and it is frequently metastatic on diagnosis. The patient applied to the department of urology suffering from severe flank pain and it's diagnosed with renal collecting duct carcinoma at end of the investigations. A hypoechoic lobulated mass with a diameter of 5×6 cm was determined by ultrasonography, and it could not be determined whether it arose from the cortex or the medulla of the kidney. A mass with a diameter of 6x5x4 cm which contrasted heterogenously after intravenous contrast material injection and conglomerated lymphadenopathies were seen on computerised tomography. We performed left radical nephrectomy. At the end of the histopathological examination, the diagnosis was collecting duct carcinoma characterized by tubal dysplasia and focal intracelluler mucine in the tissues around the kidney, high grade cytology, solid and tubulopapillary growth pattern and multinodular tumor which contained diffuse inflamatory cells. Collecting duct carcinoma is generally metastatic on diagnosis, and since it is an aggressive tumor, its treatment is considerably difficult. Copyright © 2012 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
