Özet
The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of the reduction of the amount of local anesthetic agent by the addition of opiates in regional intravenous anesthesia (RIVA). The study was performed in 30 patients of ASA I and II who underwent upper extremily surgery. Half of the group received prilocaine (group I, 0.6 mg/kg of 0.5%) and the rest received prilocaine + 0.1 mg/kg of morphine (group II 0.6 mg/kg 0.25%) and were evaluated for the sensorial blockade by Pin Prick Test and motor blockade by Modified Bromage Scale. Although motor and sensorial blockade occurred faster (p < 0.05) in the first group, no significant difference was seen at the 15th min (p > 0.05). As a result, we concluded that the additional morphine in RIVA decreased the amount of prilocaine and the usage of this diluted form may decrease the risk of systemic toxicity however no increase in the quality or in the onset of analgesia, noted.
