Özet

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is a tick-borne, endemic and potentially fatal disease with a wide geographical distribution, caused by single-stranded negative RNA virus Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus. Information on the pathogenesis of the disease is limited due to the paucity of research. The process, which starts with endothelial damage after the tick bite, progresses to the disease setting where the distribution of coagulation factors is impaired and systemic effects are seen with bleeding and damage of the liver and spleen. Low levels and delay in the interferon response are thought to cause severe disease in humans, unlike other animals. More detailed studies on the pathogenesis are needed. Clarifying the pathogenesis of the disease will also contribute to the increase in treatment options, which are currently limited.
