Özet
Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common type of female genital tract malignancy. Endometrioid adenocancer is the most seen histologic subtype. Vast majority of women are diagnosed at an early stage due to irregular vaginal bleeding. Although EC is a disease with a generally favourable prognosis, it can range from one with an excellent prognosis and high curability to aggressive disease with poor outcomes. Total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is the standart primary surgical procedure. The role of lymphadenectomy in women with EC still remains controversial. Lymphadenectomy is performed in most centres on therapeutic and prognostic grounds, patients’s characteristics, stage and histological features such as histologic subtype, grade, lymphovascular space status to individualise adjuvant treatment. Several risk classifications are designed to explore the risk factors for the recurrence and to determine optimal postoperative treatment strategies. Several clinical trials are continuing to assess the optimal treatment methods in women with EC at high risk for recurrence.
