Özet
Early-onset scoliosis (EOS) is defined as a spinal curvature above 10° in the coronal plane that occurs in children aged under ten. Together with spinal deformity, thoracic deformity may reduce chest volume and cause abnormal respiratory patterns and cardiopulmonary diseases. In EOS, conservative methods applied to terminate the progression of the curvature and correct the curvature while preserving the pulmonary and cardiac functions and controlling the growth of the spine and thorax include observation, physical therapy, serial casting, and bracing. Bracing and plaster treatments and physiotherapy practices contribute to the arrest and regression of the curvature when started at early ages and are effective in delaying the time of surgical intervention in older ages and high-degree curvatures. Conservative treatment methods reduce the need for surgical treatment in EOS.
