Özet

Objective: The study was designed for determining the factors affecting the family planning method preferences of married reproductive-age women in the age range of 15-50 years, who were enrolled in a family health center. Methods: The population of the study consisted of 1105 women who were enrolled in the Unit No 25 of Osmaniye Family Health Center No 4. However, the sample group consisted of 598 women. A survey form prepared by the researchers was used as data collection tool. After determining that women in the age range of 15-50 years, who were registered in Unit No 25 of Osmaniye Family Health Center No 4, would participate in the study, the data were collected one by one from the system of the aforementioned unit. Results: The reasons for women not to use family planning methods were found to be the intention to conceive (7.7%), partner’s rejection (3.8%) and being already pregnant at that moment (5.0%). It was determined that there was a statistically significant correlation between the averages of the women’s age, the number of households, the number of having children, the number of births, the number of pregnancies and the number of unintentional abortions and their state of using family planning method (p<0.05). It was determined that there was a statistically significant correlation between the education level of women, the availability of the family planning method used and the effect of the prices of the family planning methods on the choice (p<0.05). Conclusion: Of the women who participated in the study, 79.6% were using a family planning method. Among the family planning methods used, condom was determined to be the highest (34.9%).
