Özet
In this study, We studied the effects of bolus doses of etomidate and propofol on haemodynamic status and plasma cortisol levels. 20 ASA I-II patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. Before induction the haemodynamic parameters were recorded. Group I received etomidate 0.3 mg/kg and succinylcholine 1.5 mg/kg, Group II received propofol 2.5 mg/kg and succinylcholine 1.5 mg/kg. Haemodynamic measurements were done following 3 minutes after induction, 3 minutes and 10 minutes after intubation. Also in both groups, plasma cortisol levels were measured by RIA prior to induction and after surgical incision. There were no statistically significant increases in plasma cortisol levels in both groups. On the basis of data obtained from this study we conclude that neither etomidate nor propofol as a single induction agent does not provide cardiovascular stability during laryngoscopy and intubation.
