Özet
Synovial chondromatosis is a uncommon benign condition of unknown cause characterized by the proliferation and metaplastic transformation of the synovium. The condition usually is monoarticular and poliarticular involvement is an uncommon presentation. The most commonly affected joints are (in order of frequency): the knee, elbow, shoulder, and hip. Patients usually present with pain, swelling and restricted joint movement. Synovial chondromatosis may occur in patients of almost any age group, but mostly present in the third to fourth decades of life. Men are affected two times more frequently than women. Synovial chondromatosis may be classified as being primary and secondary in origin. The precise cause of primary form is unknown. Causes that are associated with secondary form are osteoarthritis, osteonecrosis, osteochondritis dissecans, neuropathic arthropathy, trauma, and rheumatoid arthritis. We here report a rare form of poliarticular synovial osteochondromatosis, including imaging findings, in a 78 years old patient, who presented with pain on the right shoulder; reduced motion, swelling and pain on her left knee and ankle.
